Mexico falls down to USA on its first match

WINNIPEG, Canada, June 3, 2008.- Mexico had to face USA for their first match of the Men’s Pan American Cup. They put a great effort on the field but after 3 sets, the referee blew the whistle in favor of the USA.  Set scores were 25-20, 25-11, 25-16, for USA.

Mexico showed great defense but could not side out. The American team was well prepared and kept winning the points.

The best scorer for USA was Captain Andrew Hein with 11 points. His teammate Evan Patak followed him closely with 10 points.

Coach Alan Knipe of USA commented the game: “We did a very good job offensively. Both setters were really good at running the offense and it was a good match. We also had the opportunity to give time play to a few players which was our game plan”.

Jorge Azair, coach of Mexico, added: “We missed a lot of serves and did too much mistakes. The lack of experience of some players showed on the court.”
